Working Psychotherapeutically in the Digital Age: A Seminar with Dr Amita Sehgal

During this half-day workshop Dr Amita Sehgal will discuss how the setting within which psychotherapy has traditionally been practiced is affected when therapy is delivered over the internet. She will refer to her work with couples to discuss circumstances in which couple therapy was provided online using videoconferencing software (like VSee and Skype).  Clinical implications of working psychotherapeutically using digital media versus working in-person, will be discussed.

The workshop aims to offer

  • An understanding of whether videoconferencing/telecommunication technology aids or hinders the traditional practice of couple psychotherapy
  • An opportunity to think about the role of the setting when working using digital technology

This workshop is for practitioners working with couples or individuals with relationship issues.

Participants are encouraged to bring their experiences of working digitally,  either via videoconferencing and/or telephone,  for discussion during the workshop.
